ThinkCollege

Youth with intellectual disabilities have not had many chances to go to college. This is changing as individuals across the country begin to create opportunities for youth to reap the benefits of postsecondary education.
The ThinkCollege website provides information and links to those interested in finding out more about the possibilities. The Institute for Community Inclusion and partner organizations have launched new two new major programs related to college for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities:
The Consortium for Postsecondary Education for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, funded by the Administration for Developmental Disabilities as a National Training Initiative, will provide training and technical assistance and disseminate information on college for people with intellectual disabilities to individuals with disabilities, families, and professionals.

The Center for Postsecondary Education for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, will conduct research on the state of the practice in this field, and identify the gaps in knowledge that exist.

Additional information on both of these programs can be found on ThinkCollege.net's website at http://www.thinkcollege.net/index.php .

ThinkCollege also generates a newsletter, which is available at http://thinkcollege.net/newsletter.php
