Learning more about special education law

This time of year things have often settled down a bit at school, and you usually have some idea of what kind of year it's going to be for your child-for better or worse. If you feel that you, or the professionals working with your child, could benefit from additional training in special education law, there are some options for learning more.

First, the DOE has just released the companion guide to Article 7. It's called Navigating the Course and is available here.

About Special Kids (ASK) offers various trainings across the state. You can find more information here.

IN*SOURCE also has trainings available here. They also have regional program specialists who can assist you with case conferences. You can find your local RPS here.

Remember that you can apply for funding from the Family Involvement Fund to help pay for these trainings. If your child has a Medicaid waiver, you can ask for funding under "family and caregiver training."
